Robert Bilensky Framing Samples

Shown for Framing Sample.
I commonly frame all my work upon completion using a hardwood, i.e Oak, Walnut, Maple, etc. The thickness of the frame is generally dictated by the size of the piece, but about a 1/4 inch thickness.
I try to put as little visual emphasis on the frame as possible as not to distract from the composition. Framing my work is as much a part of my process as is the painting itself. These frames are attached directly to the sides of each piece with a strong, high quality woodglue. Additionally, dependant on the quality and/or over-all hue of the paint in the work, frames may or may not be stained or laquered.
