I do not claim to understand art. Nor do I claim to understand the motives of other artists. All I know for sure is that I can better understand myself by making art. I can better understand my own motivations. That is my art.

Adam Licsko         paintings

Licsko, pronounced Lis-Co, A 38 year-old California artist, has been painting professionally since 2001.

Within the first five years of his professional debut, his unique minimalist style attracted an international following and critical acclaim.

He has collections with Nissan, Amgen Cancer Research Institute, Seagate Technologies, Raytheon, Loyola Marymount University, Cisco Systems and State Farm, to name just a few, as well as numerous celebrity collectors.

Paintings he has donated have raised funds for charities, including Make A Wish Foundation- Miami, Central Coast Wine Classic, and The Ventana Wildlife Society (for the California condor) and Greenspace.

In 2011 Licsko was a featured artist at “Love, Faith, Shame, and Hope,” a group show in which his paintings were featured next to those of Tissot, Dali, Warhol, T.H. Benton and Rembrandt among others.

In May of 2012, in collaboration with Rolls Royce (of Beverly Hills), Adam had a private one-man show at the Walters Estate in Beverly Hills. Furthermore, Adam’s latest series, titled “Remember Yourself”, and his modern conceptual landscapes, were featured in six articles in the prominent Huffington Post. In February, 2013 he had a one-man exhibition at the beautiful Primavera Gallery in Ojai, California.

His works portray an incisive perception of the world around him as he brings to both urban life and natural settings an acute awareness of his audience. He explores a triad between the viewer’s perspective and dualities on the canvas, emphasizing the contrasts between light and shadow, cool and warm colors, beauty and its opposite, but always exploring them as they would be seen or felt by the observer.

When he’s not painting or drawing, Adam is an inventor and designer. In 2005, after a back injury, he designed and received a patent for a deceptively simple device that maintains proper posture while carrying heavy or awkward loads. He has also worked freelance, as a co-designer, on a project with George Lucas’s ILM along with many other conceptual design projects through the years. Adam is currently developing, and going into production, with a unique solar energy innovation of his own creation.

Today, Licsko’s paintings intensify his own struggle to “know himself” and to express the world as he feels it.  He explores an even deeper connection with his audience, touching upon more human subject matter and social commentary.
